My Stanly Community College journey began in January 2016. I was terrified and unsure of what to expect, especially since I had been out of school for ten years and I had a one-year-old daughter. Being a mom motivated me to be the best I could be.

With the help of instructors, my first semester was successful. My second semester, a teacher suggested me to join Phi Beta Lambda, which is a business society. PBL has prepared me for the real world when I graduate. In 2017-2018, I was elected chapter president. That year the chapter came in first place in the state and nation for our Local Chapter Annual Report, and the Parliamentary Procedure team that I was on came in sixth place at nationals.

At SCC, I have found class, PBL, and SGA friends and mentors who always support me. I am proud of my high academic performance and leadership experiences, and I look forward to a successful career because of them.
